Our Story

Engineering Design Collaborative

EDesignC, Inc., was founded based on a dedication to the future of California’s interlinked communities at large. EDesignC’s philosophical approach is guided by a heartfelt commitment to the forward movement of functional, service-oriented, and user-beneficial building systems.

In 2008, Founding Principal Rosanna Lerma, PE, LEED AP, partnered with Stephen Howarter, PE, to establish EDesignC’s headquarters in San Francisco.  The multidiscipline engineering firm expanded to add offices in Oakland in 2010 and Pleasant Hill in 2012.  EDesignC is a Minority/Women Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) and an Equal Employment Opportunity business, committed to representing the diverse demographics of Northern California and the communities it servers.

As a boutique firm, EDesignC finds that maintaining a staff of twelve on average allows the team to develop a close-knit and complimentary set of perspectives, skills, and approach to industries and projects that closely impact Northern California’s educational/learning institutions, the development of affordable housing, and city/county and utilities services.

The firm was established as an Engineering Design Collaborative, where varied disciplines can come together combining legacy experience and project-centered understanding with innovative and progressive ideas that will carry the state of building systems design into the future.

Since its inception, EDesignC has been committed to providing engineering design services for community resources and service projects. To that end, the firm has contributed to the development of building systems for public sector and community administration agencies that introduce innovative, sustainable, and cutting-edge system solutions that allow these agencies to provide the best services to the community.
