OAKLAND UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT initiated district-wide school improvements with the passing of the Measure J Bond Program, allotting Fremont High School a $82 million budget for renovations for a student population of 1,200. EDesignC was brought onboard to provide Electrical, Low Voltage, and Fire Alarm services.
The library’s exterior lighting systems were reviewed, and additional facade details were brought up to code. Inside new floors and ceiling grid/tile throughout the first floor required new lighting, mechanical ductwork modifications, HVAC, and new fire alarm design. Additionally, EDesignC completed first floor fire sprinkler design, IT infrastructure for data, phone and clock, and intrusion alarm design, and brought the design through DSA approval.
The firm provided supportive work during the construction process by providing similar services to a temporary relocation of the Wellness Center from its original home in the gymnasium set for demolition, which required power for new HVAC equipment, power for new plumbing equipment, new lighting design and controls for the new space. Telephone and Data design, and modifications to the existing system Fire Alarm Design were also completed.
